6675

#6675 Cornet

I’m a trumpet player and I regularly play taps for veterans ceremonies.

I just played taps today on one of your bugles loaned to me by a friend.

I’m trying to research the serial number, 6675,  to determine how old it is.

It plays flawlessly, by the way!

I’m a Vietnam vet, and a former US Navy Band musician.

I play with an organization called Bugles Across America.

It was founded by Tom Day, out of Chicago,  decades ago to be able to provide a source for live buglers so our veterans can get a live, qualified bugler.

There’s about 4, 000 of us nationwide.

We have to audition to be accepted.

Tom started B.A.A. Because the government started using a plastic bugle with a recording instead of a real live musician.

You can get a hold of BAA and request one of us instead of a person pushing an electric play button.

58,220 of us didn’t come back from where I was in the 60’s.

I could play taps for the next 100 years and never come close to that number.

Thanks for your help.
